Mavs take 2-0 lead over Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks lead the Lakers 2 games to 0 after sweeping in Los Angeles.  The Mavericks defeated the Lakers 93-81 on Wednesday night to take the commanding lead in the best-of-7 series.

Dirk Nowitzki led the game with 24 points, one more than the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant.  Shawn Marion was next for the Mavs with 14 points, followed by Jason Kidd with 10.  Jose Barea came off the bench to score 12.  The Dallas bench again outscored the Lakers bench 30-12.

The Lakers were cold from the 3-point range, hitting just 2 of 20 attempts.  The Mavericks were 8 of 25 from long range.  Dallas held the edge up close as well, hitting 17 of 21 from the foul line.  The Lakers only hit 11 of 20.

In the NBA, teams that go on the road to take a 2-0 lead have won the series 15 of 18 times.  Dallas will return home to host the Lakers on Friday night, hoping to take an almost insurmountable 3-0 lead.
