Mavs Top Nuggets 102-84

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Denver Nuggets 102-84 Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center.   With the win, the Mavericks swept their three-game homestand and recorded their fifth consecutive victory. It ties their season-long for consecutive wins (also won five straight from 1/7/12 vs. New Orleans to 1/14/12 vs. Sacramento). The Mavericks improved to 19-11 through their first 30 games of the season.

Dallas began the game on a 21-9 run. The Mavericks never trailed and led by as many as 31 in the game against the Nuggets on Wednesday. Dallas recorded its third wire-to-wire victory of the season (also 1/10 at Detroit and 1/14 vs. Sacramento). The Mavericks have not trailed by more than four points in any of their most recent five games (L.A. Clippers’ largest lead was 4 on 2/13, Portland’s largest lead was 4 on 2/11, Minnesota’s largest lead was 2 on 2/10 and Denver’s largest lead was 1 on 2/8).

Shawn Marion (16), Vince Carter (15), Lamar Odom (14), Jason Kidd (13), Dirk Nowitzki (12) and Brandan Wright (10) all scored in double figures for Dallas in the win. It marked the third time this season that Dallas has had six players in double-digits (3-0 record). Before tonight, the last time Dallas had six players with 10-plus points was vs. Utah 1/27/12.

Shawn Marion posted his fifth double-double of the season (397th career) with 16 points (8-14 FGs), 10 rebounds and a season-high six assists. The Mavericks improved to 13-1 when he scores 13-plus points.

Jason Kidd recorded a season-high 13 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists and three steals in 22 minutes. His previous high scoring game was 12 against Denver on 12/26/11.

Brandan Wright tallied 10 points (5-7 FGs) and seven boards in 25 minutes against Denver on Wednesday, giving him his fourth double-figure scoring game of the year. He finished two points shy of tying his season high for scoring (12) and one board shy of tying his season-high for rebounding (8).

Vince Carter registered 15 points (5-10 FGs, 2-4 3FGs, 3-3 FTs) to go along with a season-high-tying six rebounds for Dallas.

Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd appeared in his 1,287th career game (1,274th start) against the Nuggets on Wednesday, passing former Maverick Sam Perkins (1,286) for 13th place on the all-time list for games played.

Mavericks guard Delonte West left tonight’s game with a right ring finger fracture/dislocation at the 7:14 mark of the second quarter and did not return. Mavericks guard Jason Terry did not dress (right quad strain). Terry, who is in his 13th season, missed just the 26th game in his career. Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois was not with the team (personal reasons).

The Mavericks’ next game is at Philadelphia on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. CT
