The Dallas Mavericks moved past .500 for the first time this year with a thrilling 90-85 victory over the Boston Celtics.  It is the 3rd consecutive win for the Mavericks, who improve to 6-5 on the season.

With the score tied, and time running out, Dirk Nowitzki won the game for the Mavericks with a lay-up.  A Boston foul on the play gave the Mavs a 3-point advantage with 5 seconds remaining.  “Everyone’s looking at you and your team really depends on you, so I like to be in the position where I can make something happen,” Nowitzki said of his final play.

Jason Terry came off the bench to lead Dallas in scoring with 18.  Nowitzki was next with 16.  Shawn Marion added 15 points and 7 rebounds for the Mavericks.  DeLonte West started for the injured Jason Kidd and scored 12 points.

The Mavericks owned the offensive rebounds, outscoring Boston 17-0 on 2nd-chance shots.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle received 2 technical fouls and was ejected from the game in the 3rd period.  The Mavericks followed the ejection with a 24-6 run and never trailed again.

The Mavs return home to the American Airlines Center on Friday to take on Milwaukee.
