Mavs win streak ends at 12

The Dallas Mavericks lost for the first time in 13 games at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks 103-99 Monday night at the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks led, 88-85, with 6:12 to go in the fourth quarter, but the Bucks used a 14-0 run to take a 97-88 advantage with 3:23 to play in regulation. The Mavericks fell to 19-5 on the year.
Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who entered Monday’s game coming off of a week in which he garnered Player of the Week honors for the second time this season (second time in the past three weeks), tallied 15 first-half points to lead all scorers through two quarters of play. He finished 30 points (12-24 FGs, 3-6 3FGs, 3-3 FTs) and seven boards on the night. It marked his sixth 30-point effort of the season.
Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd came into Monday’s contest ranked sixth in the league in assists with 8.8 assists per game and dished out six assists in the first quarter for Dallas. It marked the same number of assists recorded by the entire Bucks team in the game’s opening period. Kidd finished with 11 points and 10 assists on the night, giving him his second double-double of the season (478th career). Kidd ranks fourth all-time among active players with 478th career doubledoubles.
Milwaukee outscored Dallas 52-38 in the paint.
