North Texas Tennis Beats UTSA

DENTON, Texas -The North Texas tennis team was 5-2 against the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon, their sixth win at the Waranch Tennis Complex this season.

“We played a clean match today,” said head coach Sujay Lama. “Four things we talked about were energy, execution, fight, and having fun. It was great to accomplish our goals.”

In doubles play, the Mean Green captured wins from Kseniya Bardabush and Franziska Sprinkmeyer at the No. 1 spot and Alexis Thoma and Anastasiya Shestakova at the No.2, awarding North Texas the doubles point.

In singles play, Mean Green juniors Bardabush and Sprinkmeyer kept their momentum going and defeated their opponents at the No. 1 and No. 5 spots.

Freshman Alexis Thoma defeated Nicole Karaklis from UTSA 6-1, 6-4; classmate Ana Sofia Cordero also collected a win, at the No.6 spot, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-4.

The Mean Green will continue its homestand against South Alabama on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m.
