Romo Likely Out For HOF Game

Some say the Hall of Fame game is nothing more than a meaningless preseason game. But after nearly six months of plenty of news off the field, but no action on the field, players and fans are looking forward to the first game of the preseason with anticipation.

Despite Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo looking sharp early in training camp, it is unlikely he will see action in the game.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas-Ft. Worth on Friday that Romo might not make even a cameo in the extra preseason game on Aug. 4 when the Cowboys play the Dolphins.

“It’s one of those deals where I suppose he could play five plays or whatever, but we might lean to no plays,” Garrett said.. “But the clock starts on our [first-teamers] in Week 2 of the preseason. So that’s not going to be Tony’s game.”

Romo had offseason surgery to remove a cyst from his back, causing him to miss the offseason program and to be limited in training camp, so far.

Backup Kyle Orton most likely will sit, too.

“That’s going to be a Nick Stephens game and an Alex Tanney game,” Garrett said.

The last time the Cowboys played in the Hall of Fame game in 2010, Romo saw action on only the team’s opening offensive series.
