Serena wins 4th Wimbledon title

Serena Williams played the Wimbledon final the same as she did every other round – in dominating fashion.  Williams defeated 21st seed Vera Zvonareva in an hour and 7 minutes.  Not only did Williams not lose a set the entire tournament, she was rarely even challenged.  Zvonareva kept pace for a while, but was on the defensive from the beginning.  Eventually, Williams broke Zvonareva’s serve and sealed the victory.  Once her serve was broken, Zvonareva played as if the outcome was already decided – which it was.

It is Williams’ 4th Wimbledon singles title.  She or her sister Venus have won the title 8 times this decade.

Williams just seems to play a different game than the other women.  She is as mobile as most, as accurate as many, and more powerful than all.  In the last 2 years, no one has shown they can challenge her on a consistent basis.  With the season heading to hard courts, there is even less chance that anyone will stop her from winning another Grand Slam event.  Serena is the best female tennis player on the planet, period.
