SMU Tennis Falls At Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (SMU) – The No. 65 SMU Mustangs won two matches as they dropped a tough match to No. 31 Notre Dame, 6-1, on Friday afternoon.
Mischa Nowicki won his singles match against Billy Pecor, 6-4, 4-6, 10-2, giving the Mustangs (8-8) their lone point of the match. Nowicki also won his doubles match alongside Arturs Kazijevs. The duo, ranked 75th nationally, defeated Pecor and Alex Lawson, 8-5.
Notre Dame (13-7) showed its strength throughout the match, however, including handing Arturs Kazijevs his first singles loss in his last six decisions. No. 109 Greg Andrews defeated Kazijevs 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 10-5.
Gaston Cuadranti and Alex Sanders held an early lead in their doubles match against Spencer Talmadge and Ryan Bandy, but ultimately fell 9-8 (7-5).
SMU will play at USF on Sunday to finish off its three-game road trip.
