The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Dan Hamhuis to a two-year contract on Friday, the team announced.

Hamhuis, 33, received a two-year, $7.5 million deal, according to published reports.

Dallas also announced it re-signed right winger Patrick Eaves and defenseman Dustin Stevenson to one-year deals and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk to a two-year contract.

Hamhuis has 55 goals and 303 points in 872 games over 12 seasons with the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks. He had 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 58 games for the Canucks last season.

“Dan is a proven, veteran competitor and will complement our group well,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement. “He brings character and leadership, both on and off the ice. He is an elite defenseman who has won a gold medal for Canada in the Olympics, appeared in several world championships, as well as competing in the Stanley Cup Final.”

Eaves, 32, had 17 points (11 goals, six assists) in 54 games last season. The 11-year veteran has 99 goals and 190 points in 545 career games with four different clubs.

“Patrick is extremely versatile and fills a number of roles on our team,” Nill said. “He is a team-first player that makes whoever he’s playing with better.”

Bodnarchuk, 27, had four assists in 37 NHL games last season, splitting time with Columbus and Colorado.

Stevenson, 26, had eight points in 45 games for Stockton of the American Hockey League last season.
