ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington had its four-game winning streak snapped in Tuesday night’s 12-6 loss to TCU at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks dropped to 12-17 going into the start of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series that begins Friday against UL Monroeat 6:30 p.m. TCU (16-12) avenged a loss to UTA earlier this season. The Metroplex rivals meet for a third time on May 13 in Fort Worth.

“That was as well as we’ve been pitched in awhile,” UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said. “We walked the leadoff hitter five or six times and they all scored. We got behind and rallied and had it to 7-5 and were one hit from tying it then we walked three guys in the eighth. We are just going to have to put it behind us and move to the next one.”

TCU jumped to a two-run lead in the first with a two-out rally. The Mavericks cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning on Ryan Bottger’s double to right to score Matt Shortall.

The Horned Frogs would score five unanswered over the next five innings. TCU racked up a season-high 16 hits, including two home runs.

The Mavericks had their chances, but were unable to capitalize. UTA posted four runs in the seventh, capped by a three-run double by Greg McCall. However, the Mavs would leave the bases loaded. UTA left 12 on base throughout the game.

UTA starter Justin Schnedler (1-2) took the loss after allowing three earned runs through three innings. TCU starter Kipper (3-2) picked the win after holding the Mavericks to four runs on eight hits.
