AUSTIN, Texas – The TCU men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision on the road to No. 8 Texas Sunday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin.

The Horned Frogs (5-7) had a tough time solving the Longhorns in doubles play, falling at the top two courts positions. After Texas claimed the early 1-0 advantage, TCU’s tandem of senior Daniel Sanchez and Max Stevens claimed the only win of the day for the Frogs, collecting a 9-8 (3) victory over the team of Lloyd Glasspool and Soren Hess-Olsen.

UT proceeded to sweep TCU at all six courts during singles play. Freshman Will Stein was the first to fall, dropping a 6-2, 6-1 score to Ben Chen, followed by senior Paul Chappell’s 6-0, 6-3 defeat at the No. 6 court. The Longhorns sealed the team win at the No. 2 position as No. 79 Daniel Whitehead took down the Frogs’ JT Sundling, 6-4, 6-4.

A pair of TCU players did force their singles match into a third set after the team win had been decided. Freshman Facundo Lugones dropped a third-set tiebreaker to Sudanwa Sitiram, 6-7 (7), 6-3, 1-0 (6), while Sanchez stumbled against Glasspool in three frames, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (6).

TCU will return to Fort Worth to host Columbia on March 13 the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
