Texas Wild Lose To Austin

The Texas Wild lost a close battle with the Austin Aces on Thursday night.  It was fitting the match ended with a Super Tie-Breaker, after 4 of the 5 sets each went to a tie-break.  In the end, Austin rallied for the 23-22 victory.

A rowdy crowd was on hand for the match, which was moved indoors at the Four Seasons Resort and Club due to threatening weather.  The crowd’s intensity was matched by the players on the court, fighting for each point.

The compressed season is taking it’s toll on the Wild, with injuries forcing roster adjustments and player substitutions.   Texas has dropped three in a row and is now one match behind San Diego for the Western Conference lead.

The Wild travel to Austin tonight for a rematch with the Aces.  They will have to face Andy Roddick and Marion Bartoli, who will join the Aces.  The match will be streamed live on ESPN-3.

The next home match will be Saturday night against Springfield.  Tickets are available at www.texaswildtennis.com
