Bryson DeChambeau‘s 40 pounds of mass, powerful tee shots and pounding protein shakes has been the talk of the PGA TOUR since its return. He can now add his sixth PGA TOUR win to the narrative with a dominating victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club.

DeChambeau fired a seven-under 65 including three consecutive birdies to post 23-under for the week, good enough for a three stroke win over Matthew Wolff.

“This is a little emotional for me because I did do something a little different, I changed my body, changed my mindset in the game and I was able to accomplish a win while playing a completely different style of golf,” DeChambeau said. “And it’s pretty amazing to see that and I hope it’s an inspiration to a lot of people that if they set their mind to it, you can accomplish it.”

Wolff led by three going into the final round, but saw his lead essentially vanish as he was attempting to capture his second PGA TOUR win.

“It was definitely a grind out there,” Wolff said. “I’m looking to get another win in the near future, but I’m in a really good spot mentally and with my game right now, so I’m not looking at this week as a disappointment in any sense.”

2017 Colonial champion Kevin Kisner fired a final round 66 for solo third.

“I think the level of play on Tour in these first four weeks has been incredible, cuts at 4 and 5 under every week,” Kisner said. “One bad hole on Thursday and Friday, it’s tough to make the cut. overall, I’m pleased with where I’ve been. I’m improving and looking forward to the rest of the FedExCup season.”

Rickie Fowler made his first cut since the PGA TOUR resumed play at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth and a final round 67 vaulted him up to a tie for 12th.

“It’s nice to actually play on the weekend, so that was obviously one of the goals coming in after missing the first two cuts just by a shot or two here or there,” Fowler said. “Happy with my ball-striking. I continue to get better, so I definitely feel like I’m in a good spot and excited for the next two weeks at Muirfield.”

Webb Simpson, winner at the RBC Heritage two weeks ago, finished in a tie for eighth after being the 35-hole leader.

Next up on the PGA TOUR is a double dip at the famed Muirfield Village Golf Club, aka “Jack’s Place.” The Workday Charity Open will feature a strong field next week followed by the annual Memorial Tournament.
