Keegan Bradley wins Travelers Championship

The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands delivered high drama and heartbreak, as Keegan Bradley, the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, staged a stunning final-hole comeback to claim his second Travelers title in three years. Bradley’s closing birdie on the 72nd hole, paired with a costly bogey from Tommy Fleetwood, secured a one-shot victory and capped a thrilling week in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Entering Sunday’s final round, all eyes were on Fleetwood, known for his consistency but still searching for his first PGA TOUR win after 42 top-10 finishes, held a three-stroke lead at 16-under-par. However, the pressure of closing out a maiden victory proved immense. Fleetwood stumbled early with three bogeys in his first four holes, allowing Bradley and Russell Henley to close the gap.

Fleetwood regained composure with birdies at the 11th and 13th, building a two-shot lead with four holes to play. Yet, the closing stretch at TPC River Highlands is notorious for dramatic swings. A par at the 15th and a missed up-and-down at the 16th set the stage for a tense finish. On the 18th, Fleetwood’s approach left him 50 feet from the hole. His birdie try came up short, and a missed 7-foot par putt opened the door for Bradley.

Bradley, a New England native and fan favorite, capitalized on the opportunity. After a steady round, he drained a decisive 6-foot birdie putt on the final green, posting a 2-under 68 and a tournament total of 257, one stroke clear of Fleetwood and Henley.

This victory marked Bradley’s eighth PGA TOUR win and reinforced his status as a clutch performer in critical moments.

Russell Henley’s week was marked by both stellar play and exemplary sportsmanship. During the second round, Henley self-reported a penalty after noticing his ball move slightly in the rough, even though no one else saw it. The one-stroke penalty turned a par into a bogey and may have cost him a solo second-place finish, but Henley emphasized the importance of honor in golf, especially with his son watching.

He finished tied for second after a superb third-round 61 and remained in contention until the final hole.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler started the third round tied for the lead but suffered a disastrous triple bogey on the opening hole Saturday. A wayward tee shot and bunker trouble led to a score of seven, and further mistakes, including a water ball on the eighth, derailed his title hopes. Despite some birdies, Scheffler could not recover and tumbled down the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy electrified fans with a dominant performance in the second round, showcasing his trademark power and precision. His strategic play propelled him up the leaderboard early in the week, reaffirming his status as one of the game’s elite. However, despite the strong start, McIlroy did not factor into the final-round drama
