Mavs put Heat on ice

The Dallas Mavericks ended the Miami Heat’s winning streak with a 98-96 victory in Miami.  It is the 6th time this season the Mavericks have stopped an opponents win streak of at least 5 games.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 26 points, including 10 for 10 from the free-throw line.  He currently has 21,781 career points and needs just 11 points to move past Larry Bird (21,791) and into 25th place on the all-time scoring list.  Tyson Chandler went a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line and collected eight points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes at MIA on 12/20. He’s pulled down at least 10 boards in three of his last four games.  Jason Kidd managed seven points (3-5 FGs, 1-2 3FGs), four rebounds and seven assists in a season-high-tying 39 minutes at MIA (12/20). It marked the 22nd time he’s led the team in assists this season.  Jason Terry scored all 19 of his points in the fourth quarter for Dallas.

LeBron James went scoreless in the first half but still managed a double-double with 19 points (6-17FGs, 2-4 3FGs, 5-7 FTs), 10 rebounds and seven assists for Miami in the loss.

Dallas trailed by five (70-65) at the start of the fourth period but began the quarter on a 7-0 run.

The Mavericks travel to Orlando Tuesday night.
