FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team continued its run of solid play with a 4-0 win over Houston on Saturday at Houston Country Club.

TCU won the doubles point to open the match but not without a stiff test from Houston. The Cougars struck first at No. 3 doubles, but TCU’s No. 2 duo of Stefanie Tan and Kelsey Sundaram returned the favor with an 8-5 win over Elena Kordolaimi and Jo Garvey.

Houston put up a good fight against TCU’s No. 1 duo of Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith, but the 42nd-ranked Frogs duo was able to dismiss Charlotte Phillips and Rocio Martin Fernandez, 8-6, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

No. 65-ranked Stefanie Tan wasted no time making it a 2-0 TCU lead with her 6-1, 6-2 win over Kordolaimi at No. 1 singles. Monika Sirilova followed with her third-straight singles win, a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Dionne Sanders to make TCU’s lead 3-0.

No. 104 Simona Parajova clinched the Frog match win with her 6-1, 6-4 downing of Fernandez at No. 4 singles. It was the fifth-straight win for the sophomore from Zvolen, Slovakia and ran her spring mark to 10-3.

The remaining three singles matches were called to a halt after TCU clinched the win with the Nichols and Denti leading by a set at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. No. 79-ranked Smith was in a third set at No. 2 singles.
