The Dallas Mavericks topped the Phoenix Suns 93-87 on Monday night at the American Airlines Center.  It is the Mavericks seventh consecutive home win (improved to 7-2 at home) and third overall.  Dallas has now held its last 15 opponents to under 100 points, which is a franchise record. Prior to this season, the Mavericks’ longest streak for consecutive games holding teams under the century mark was 13 (1/14/06-2/9/06).

Shawn Marion scored a season-high 29 points (11-21 FGs, 4-6 FGs, 3-5 FTs) against Phoenix on Monday. It was tied for the most points he’s scored as a Maverick (29 at Minnesota 3/8/10). Marion is averaging 19.3 points and 8.3 rebounds over his last four games.

Lamar Odom made his second consecutive start (second of the season, 680th career) in place of Dirk Nowitzki (sore right knee) and scored 11 points in 28 minutes. It was his third consecutive game scoring in double figures (and the fifth time he’s done so this season). Odom and Suns guard Jared Dudley both appeared in their 200th consecutive game on Monday. They entered Monday’s contest tied for fifth place on the list for consecutive games played behind Derek Fisher (513), Russell Westbrook (262), Brook Lopez (246) and Boris Diaw (240).

Brendan Haywood scored a season-high 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the first half of Monday’s game (previous high nine at Detroit 1/10/12). Ian Mahinmi recorded 10 points and six boards in the first half against Phoenix on Monday. He finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes. He posted his sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season. Dallas is now 5-1 when Mahinmi scores 10-plus points in a game this season. He had four double-figure scoring efforts all of last year. It was the first time since 2/7/11 vs. Cleveland that the Dallas had both a starting center and a backup center in double figures (Tyson Chandler had 10 points in start; Mahinmi had 11 points off bench; Brendan Haywood was a DNP-CD in that game).

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki missed his second straight game with a sore right knee. Mavericks guard Vince Carter missed his fourth consecutive game due to a sprained left foot.

The Mavericks’ next game is vs. Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. CT.
